Akira
A.R.Murugdoss is here with his third Hindi movie, Akira. The director who had directed top notch gripping entertainer Ghajini and a good, Holiday is back. So I was excited about this one.
It tells a story about a college student, Akira (Sonakshi Sinha) single-handedly takes on four corrupt police officers in a bid to prove her innocence.
Akira is good in its position with few engaging and interesting twists and turns till the interval. And then, it miserably falls a deep and can't even crawl to survive till the end.
It falls flat in many aspects like Screenplay(Lengthy), Music(Old) , Background score(Unnecessary) and Editing(Blunt).
It also lacks high octane action sequences and cracking dialogues from lead character which audience expect from such movie.
One of the major drawback is its pace. Or I can say it has literally no pace after the interval. And it starts getting so boring and irritating as worse as possible.
It holds you to the seats just because of stellar performance of Anurag Kashyap as ACP Rane. His attitude, dark thought process, grimy dialogue delivery and overall body language are just fine. After interval, he has not much screen presence and then movie feels like body without brain.
Uday Sabnis, Nandu Madhav, Lokesh Gupte as corrupt police officers also did their jobs well.
Konkana Sen Sharma is just wasted in her role. I am still confused... Why is she pregnant in the movie? Her pregnancy doesn't reflect in the movie for a single moment.
Sonakshi Sinha as a lead character perfectly suits for the role if body language is concerned. But when it comes to her acting she totally wasted this opportunity as she nothing offers new.
A.R.Murugdoss's direction is good but can't survive this weak scripted movie from getting boring and irritating. Sadly we can't imagine that this guy had directed Ghajini :(
I would say if you are die hard fan of Anurag Kashyap and don't want to miss his work, then and only then go for this one.
At the last... Akira, Woman Centric Action(!) Drama(!) collapses on audience shoulder.
