Chaurya
The name itself says that it is a story about robbery.
Sameer Asha Patil's directional debut keeps audience hooked till the end.
Though we had seen many movies about robbery, thieves, police and all, it is really far different from others.
This one tells a story about a unique village without doors that has a belief that their God punishes robbers. The belief gets shattered when a robbery occurs into the temple. And then starts the chase between police(!) and thieves.
Chaurya has given different treatment in storytelling. It is handled in different way than montage which is familiar to us.
It is fast paced, gripping thriller and keeps your curiosity alive with suspense. The important thing about this it doesn’t dilute the central core of the movie and it has a dark shade from top to bottom.
Kishor Kadam’s narration also feels good. Background score is also engaging. 'Choratyancha Fad' folk music is also brilliant and well placed in the movie. Milind Shinde, Ganesh Yadav, Dinesh Shetty, Pradeep Velankar’s performances are really fine.
But it fails in technical (virtual) aspects. Its lead characters also lack the clarity in writing. Irrelevant Item song also spoils the mood of the audience.
At the last, truth reveals in an ambiguous nature (which I liked) and it ends up with hard hitting social message (earlier seen in Umesh Kulkarni’s Deool).
It keeps me reminding Tarantino’s Masterpiece Reservoir Dogs in much scenes. Though it can’t reaches Tarantino’s height, it is a very good attempt (experiment) and worth watch.
