Mohenjo Daro
Finally, I had taken risk to go for this Epic (?).
After giving Brilliant movies like Lagaan, Swades and Jodha Akbar, Ashutosh Gowariker is back with his anticipated project Mohenjo Daro.
He and his team took three years to study culture of Mohenjo Daro and writing a script in accordance but sadly nothing reflects in the movie.
In 2016 B.C., a farmer, Sarman (Hrithik Roshan) in the Indus Valley travels to a city, Mohenjo Daro and saves the people from cruel Legend Maham (Kabir Bedi) is the former plot.
From the very first scene when Sarman defeats a giant Crocodile, it starts being childish. The huge... ohh ! I mean Card board sets fails to impress the audience. The routine linear plot (almost similar with The Lion King and Gladiator) runs for two and half hours... yeah it is bit painful.
I’m still confused about the name Mohenjo Daro. Things which we expect from such Historical-Drama like old culture, living style of ancient Indians, surprising true history and some epic moments but Mohenjo Daro didn’t satisfy a single :(. It has nothing to do with name.
Ashutosh Govarikar lost in his own magical world of Revenge and love-story instead of something Realistic.
It generally falls flat in many departments like editing, cinematography, screenplay, performances by cast (with exception) and visuals.
Long stretched climax sequence is unnecessarily attached to movie.
But it has very few shiny moments too.
Hrithik’s sincere efforts and fine performance is highlight of movie. Pooja’s debut is impressive but she has nothing to offer new. Rehman’s Music and Background score is impressive and engaging. Songs are also beautifully captured. It has some thrilling moments too. Some action sequences are brilliantly done and helps to engage you.
Overall it is just Entertaining. If you have nothing to do and get bored then it might entertain you for a little extent.
-Ashutosh :)
