MS Dhoni: The Untold Story
"Absolutely magnificent, Dhoni finishes off in style, A magnificent stroke into the crowd ! India lift the world cup after 28 years. And it's the Indian Captain who has been absolutely magnificent in the night of the final."...The finest moment in Indian Cricket History.
Let me clear, I am the huge fan of Mahi.
So, I will try to keep my emotions aside and will start a review.
Neeraj Pandey is one of the Finest Indian directors in recent times. A Wednesday, Special 26 and Baby are his earlier movies which were just Brilliant. So I was dying to see this one. And yes ! It is arrived.
As it is a biopic, the whole story is all about... How Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a boy from middle class family having huge dreams and from a small town, Ranchi becomes the Finest Captain in the History of World Cricket.
Neeraj Pandey keeps it very clean and as simple as he can. He plays very safe game on the pitch of Cricket which Mahi never did.
The movie starts with the peak and all the Audience get so much excited and hoping to see something Brilliant. And the Audience get satisfaction for sure.
Then the movie sets in flashback. Neeraj Pandey tries his best to capture each and every inspiring, emotional and interesting Highlight of Mahi's journey from his birth to the the greatest achievement as the best Captain.
Every single moment in first half is the Pure Gold. Neeraj Pandey sets the period of late 80's of Ranchi, that atmosphere, the whole family background, his school, Cricket coach, Mahi's friends, Railway station in Brilliant way.
However, it loses the momentum in second half. Its focus gets shifted into consecutive love stories. And the audience starts looking for time. 3 hours 10 minutes runtime is not a problem but that predictable love sequences and Romantic tracks are. But still it remains good in second half with few shining moments.
Unfortunately, some things in which crowd is much interested remains Untold in this biopic.
Dressing room environment, Mahi's relation with his team-mates, few controversial events about fixing and all, his decision taking ability, his posting as a Captain, his Captain cool nature, strategy plans, Honorary Territorial army life and his successful IPL career, remain untold.
But Mahi's Determination, Dedication, comic sense, affection for bikes are shown in very beautiful manner.
Background score is apt and makes almost each scene terrific and gripping. That Interval Scene will remain as the best forever in the History of Indian Cinema .
Right from the Ranchi to the huge stadiums
Cinematography is brilliant. VFX and CGI effects should get special mention here. There are many Dialogue which give us great feeling.
And when it comes to performances, Sushant Singh Rajput scores a Brilliant knock in this as Mahi did in final. He shines in every scene like no one else. His body language, dialogue delivery, Cricket strokes, Frustration and emotions are just top notch.
Anupam Kher is effortless and drives you throughout the film emotionally.
Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Disha Patani, Kiara Adwani, Bhumika Chawla, Herry Tangiri all give their best.
And in the Climax, Neeraj hits the Heartwarming ball into the audience and leaves every Indian chest swelling with proud.
After all, to watch MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, to relive each moment of his life will always be memorable experience with full of Goosebumps for you.
